Important 2026 Update: Texas DPS Now Uses RSD Connect
Effective October 1, 2026, the Texas Department of Public Safety transitioned License to Carry licensing services to RSD Connect, its current Regulatory Services Division licensing platform.
RSD Connect is now used for Texas LTC applications, renewals, licensing status, and applicable handgun licensing functions.
Under the current Texas DPS process, students do not receive separate training documentation for completing LTC classroom and/or handgun proficiency training. Applicable training results are entered into the student’s RSD Connect account by the Texas Qualified LTC Instructor.
Applicants should follow the current instructions provided by Texas DPS and RSD Connect rather than older procedures directing students to upload or mail an LTC training certificate.
